Get a glimpse of your student's life at college during Family Weekend! This annual event gives families the opportunity to experience the hustle and bustle of Iowa's campus during one of the city's most beautiful seasons. Families can expect to celebrate all aspects of campus, whether that is an athletic event, programming organized by a student organization, or a theatrical performance. We will have a
full detailed schedule of events published by Tuesday, September 2 and will communicate with you via email leading up to the event.
The Family Weekend fee covers the cost of Family Weekend administrative services, facility rentals, staff, and additional fees associated with the programming. There are a few additional events that require tickets. More information about these events along with the option to add-on additional tickets can be found within the registration.
Those who register by Tuesday, July 1, will receive an informational email with a code, allowing them early access to purchase football tickets, before they go on sale to the general public. This year the Hawkeyes will face the Minnesota Gophers at home. Game time will be announced closer to the event. We do expect this game to sell-out and registering for Family Weekend early does not guarantee you will be able to secure football tickets. There will be additional programming available on Saturday for families who are not interested in attending the football game.
We are offering up to 80 fee waivers for families of students with financial need as demonstrated by their financial aid package. If your student is eligible for a Federal Pell Grant or low-income (SAI of $0), your family may qualify for a fee waiver for Family Weekend. If you are eligible and want to apply, please email us at ui-parents@uiowa.edu to request a fee waiver form.
For more questions about Family Weekend, please email
ui-parents@uiowa.edu or call 319-335-3557.
NOTE: The fee waiver only covers the base rate for Family Weekend. Families who wish to purchase tickets for any additional events will still pay for those tickets.
