Youth Camp Supervisor
Rate of Pay: $13.75/hour

To assist and oversee the onsite, daily operations of the Hustling Hawkeyes Summer Camps Program at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center and Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
Responsibilities
• Arrive at camp check-in before instructors to lead the daily check in of campers as well as the daily check out and leave when replacement arrives or all supplies have been cleaned and stored away.
• Assist in preparing sport-based activities for daily groups participating in camps as well as recreational activities for the entire camp.
• Assist with managing the care and safety of the students participating in camps.
• Self-motivated, energetic and willingness to be flexible in duties and interactions with campers.
• Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
• Focus on working as a team with other instructors, coordinators and bus drivers.
• Good communication skills when meeting with campers, parents/guardians, co-workers and supervisors.
• Complete daily safety checks of the shared spaces and supplies for camp. Communicate to families any accidents or injuries that occurred.
• Assist Assistant Director with incidents involving behavior issues.
• Attend weekly meetings with Assistant Director about plans for future weeks of camp.
Qualifications
• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Interest/background in sports and recreation.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Previous day/summer camp work experience.

• DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•
• University of Iowa student.
• Pursuing a degree in education, child psychology, sport management or related fields.
Training Requirements
• Criminal Background Check upon hire
• CPR /AED / First Aid Certification
• Minors on Campus Training
• Completion of University of Iowa Bloodborne Pathogens Training
• Recreational Services Orientation
