Participate on a team of students in the set up for and support of events associated with the use of the facilities in IMU. As well as assisting with the general upkeep, cleaning and basic maintenance of main lounge, ballroom and other public spaces of the IMU. All set up crews will be led by Building Assistants and/or Event Services Facilities Coordinators who will provide support and instruction for the work tasks expected of the crew throughout the shift. Along with them providing comprehensive training to help crew members feel empowered and capable in their role. This position has a flexible shift-based work schedule due to the dynamic event schedule. And competitive pay, with ample opportunity for upward mobility and promotion within the event services student staff ranks.

Responsibilities

• Regularly set up tables, chairs, stages, dance floors and other equipment needed based on the scheduled events.
• Assist in the coordination of large concerts, speeches, films, and lectures as necessary.
• Participate in various building projects involving the movement and/or relocation of furniture, offices, sign stands, etc.
• Assist day and evening custodial staff with the cleaning of public areas, pulling trash, and vacuuming of event spaces in the IMU.
• Assist mechanic and Facilities Coordinators in lifting and moving of materials, painting, and light construction work with direct supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be open to working flexible schedule of days, evenings and some weekends ranging from 6am in the morning until 3am at night.
• Good communication and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and on a team.
• Able follow written and verbal instruction.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to climb ladders and operate powered lifts after proper training is received.
