Welcome Center Representative
Rate of Pay: $11/hour

Deliver outstanding customer service to visitors, students, and members of the university community by demonstrating a positive attitude, providing accurate and helpful information, and proactively supporting events, activities, and IMU operations. In this role, you will serve as a professional ambassador and the public face of the IMU.
Responsibilities
• CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Provide exceptional customer service daily with a positive and supportive attitude.
• Serve as a liaison and point of contact for all guests.
• Represent the IMU and the university in a respectful, enthusiastic, and helpful manner.
• Actively seek opportunities to assist and engage others.
• Research and direct guests to appropriate resources when information is not immediately available.
• DESK OPERATIONS
• Ensure the desk is always attended or coordinate coverage as needed.
• Assist with staffing coverage as needed.
• Monitor the bookcase, cabinets, and desk displays to keep items tidy and stocked.
• Sort incoming and outgoing mail; deliver packages to internal departments as appropriate.
• Receive and process items for the IMU lost and found.
• Perform routine clerical tasks that support daily operations
• Answer phones, monitor and respond to emails, and complete related follow-through.
• Maintain the security of all programming-related and cash-valued items entrusted to the Welcome Center in accordance with UI policies, including lost and found items.
• BUILDING LIASISON
• Serve as a central point of communication for IMU operations and services.
• Remain observant of individuals and facility conditions; note and respond to any concerns.
• Stay alert for updates and announcements from Student Managers and the Welcome Center Supervisor.
• Report any safety or facility issues immediately to the appropriate personnel.
• Resolve on-site inquiries, conflict situations, and concerns in a professional manner.
• EVENT ASSISTANCE
• Review the Mazevo Event Book daily and stay aware of all events occurring during your shift; anticipate needs.
• Be available and respond immediately to requests via staff radio.
• Assist with duties related to event support and IMU operations.
• OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Attend staff meetings, training, and in-service sessions.
• Comply with all UI regulations and procedures.

Qualifications
• Registered University of Iowa student.
• Reasonable work experience in a customer service role.
• Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
• Ability to respond effectively and positively to situations and inquiries.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to help create and maintain a professional and safe environment.
• Ability to respond appropriately to crisis or concerning situations.
• Ability to recognize risks and remain calm when addressing crises or concerns.

Training Requirements
• Complete assigned UI student employee compliances as part of onboarding process.
