Bakery Lead

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of student employment in the central bakery. Will help coordinate workload with central bakery. Make independent decisions and exercise good judgment in the absence of a full-time supervisor. Will be working independently with production in the nut free bakery at Burge. Will need to be flexible working at different bakery locations on campus.
Responsibilities
• Supervise, schedule, and coordinate new student hiring process. Maintain central email account.
• Conduct orientation of new student employees and training in new positions.
• Phone employees when necessary. Communicate all information regarding tardiness, absences, and exemplary behavior to supervisors.
• Update online attendance and tracking tool daily.
• Responsible for contributing to performance evaluations for student employees, following all HR guidelines and procedures.
• Obtain knowledge of sanitation and safety policies and procedures. Utilize knowledge to help train employees and ensure standards are being met. Track compliance reporting.
• Ensure and track proper start dates for students and completion of paperwork with student employment desk.
• Train, direct, and inspect the work of student staff. Provide leadership and serve as a professional role model.
• Participate in management team meetings.
• Make decisions in emergency situations.
Qualifications
• Enrolled as UI student during academic year.
• Must by 18 years of age or older.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and be positive and respectful.
• Demonstrated commitment to great internal customer service.
• Must be able to meet and maintain ServSafe training requirements per UI and departmental policies and procedures.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week.
• Must be able to work evenings, overnights, and weekends and be flexible in scheduling.
• Previous supervisory experience is required.
• Must be able to move up to 20lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
